Let me rise up joyful
Like a bird.

When I fall
Let me fall without regret
Like a leaf.

    Great set!

I love how you retain the hokku feel alongside the haiku tension!

And I love how this can be read straight through as a single line of utterance and also if it was read or performed, there could be a long pause for audience tension!

letting the grief be // ghost orchids

And my own personal additional reading:

letting the grief be ghost (orchid) s

letting the grief be ghosts  (orchids)

Every one of your three haiku are equally stunning!!!

Really liked all three of your poems, Deborah. For me, they all seemd to suggest the transient nature of everything…
