Barrie Levine

Barrie began studying and writing haiku five years ago upon her retirement from law practice. She started a blog (72 is the New 72 at barrielevine.com), mentors new poets through the Haiku Society of America, and leads a memoir writing class at her local senior center. She likes to think she is ageless based on her new-found and life-affirming passion for haiku which took her by storm in her 70s. She is proud to be recognized this year by Red Moon Press in A New Resonance 14 featuring Emerging Voices in English-Language Haiku.

Goodness, Barrie! So many words I could have used, too! 😊 Lovely poems, and I’m sure I’ve seen the lawnmower one before, but don’t think I’ve read ‘Frog Pond’. Was it a Touchstone Award, or something? 🤔❤️

Thank you for your appreciation of my poems. I was honored that the dad and his mower haiku was named Best of Issue in Frogpond 46:3 Autumn 2023 and then the editors nominated it for a Touchstone Award for Individual Poem.
